Rayna Daniels

Rayna DanielsBoozhoo! My name is Rayna Daniels. I am an Ojibwe woman, Wolf Clan, and a member of the Peguis First Nation in Manitoba. I enjoy spending time with friends and family, going to ceremony (Sundance and Midewiwin), and participating in community events. Soon I will begin employment at Whistling Winds Action Therapy, which is a therapeutic wraparound support service for youth. I cannot wait to see what the future holds.

I grew up in Manigotagan with my late mother, Linda Daniels and older sisters. My mother was an excellent First Nations Teacher. She taught me that it is never too late to pursue an education. I moved to Winnipeg after my high school graduation to work alongside my father, Dennis Daniels at the Manitoba Indigenous Cultural Education Center in North Point Douglas. He taught me the importance of being a hard worker. In 2025, he will celebrate 50 years of employment at MICEC and perhaps consider retirement.

After years of my own employment at MICEC, I knew that pursuing a post secondary education would allow me to learn more about my culture, language, and identity. I wanted to better serve the communities that I love. In the fall of 2024, I will graduate from 海角社区 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Indigenous Studies and continue my studies with the Master’s in Development Practice: Indigenous Development (MDP) program. I look forward to gaining new skills, friendships, and employment opportunities.
