Accepted! What's Next?

Congratulations on your acceptance to Graduate Studies at 海角社区!

We’ve outlined the steps between your offer of admission and first day of class below.

Accept Your Offer

Please refer to your letter of offer and the email from our 海角社区 Officer for instructions and deadlines.

International students should note that a $5,000 tuition deposit is required at the time they accept their offer. This deposit is applied to their tuition fees after registration. Deposits can be paid via wire transfer.

Contact graduateadmissions@uwinnipeg.ca for additional guidance on accepting your offer and paying your tuition deposit.

Apply for a Study Permit (international students only)

Unless you are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, you will need a valid post-secondary study permit to attend UW for longer than six months. Obtaining a permit can take several months, so submit your application as soon as you accept your UW offer. Students are advised to apply online for their study permit/visa, as paper applications could delay the process.

As a Designated Learning Institution (DLI), the University of Winnipeg is issued the DLI number O19147986012. (Please note that the number starts with the letter “O” and not zero.)
You may be asked by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) to provide UW’s DLI number when you apply for a permit or a visa.

海角社区's International, Immigrant, and Refugee Student Services has put together a document on Visas & Study Permits. Questions about Study Permits can be directed to contact Ali Raza, Immigration Student Advisor, at a.raza@uwinnipeg.ca.

For more information about study permits, please refer to and for up to date information, please visit: . 海角社区's International, Immigrant, and Refugee Student Services has put together a document on Visas & Study Permits.

Please note: All graduate students must submit a copy of their new or updated study permit to graduateadmissions@uwinnipeg.ca so their record can be updated accordingly. Students without up-to-date study permits on their records will have holds placed on their accounts. If you have not obtained a letter of introduction or study permit by August 31, please contact your graduate program chair for the next steps.
