Fee Information and Financial Aid

Tuition fee information may be found on the Graduate Studies fee information page

There will be an effort to provide funding to every student admitted into the MAE program. Financial support will be in the form of a scholarship, teaching assistantship or research assistantship. We aim to provide funding that is competitive with other Canadian Master’s programs in Economics.

Students are automatically considered for financial support. No separate application is required. In case you do not wish to be considered for financial assistance, please let us know as this funding will be made available to other students.

Scholarship opportunities for Canadians:

The Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) provides both master’s and doctoral funding to Canadian students on a competitive basis. Information is available at:

If you are eligible, please apply. The deadline for applications varies depending on your current or most recent university attended but is normally in September.

Scholarship opportunities for non-Canadians:

Non-Canadian students can draw on a wide variety of fellowships and other forms of assistance. Several large, multidisciplinary programs fund study in Canada by students from abroad. These include:

  • The Canadian Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Program;
  • The Government of Canada Awards to Foreign Nationals
  • The Technical Assistance Scholarships
  • Canadian Fellowship Program for French-Speaking Countries, funded by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).

You must apply for assistance under these programs through your home country’s government, usually via the Ministry of Education. Applications sent by individuals directly to Canada are not considered.

Information on other internal and external awards is available on the Graduate Studies website
