Co-op Program Student Ambassador

What is a Co-op Program Student Ambassador? 

The Student Ambassador for the University of Winnipeg Co-op Program serves as a representative and advocate for the program, promoting its benefits to current and prospective students, employers, and other stakeholders. Ambassadors play a vital role in building awareness, fostering engagement, and supporting the growth of the Co-op program.

Responsibilities Include: 

  1. Promotion and Outreach:
    • Actively promote the University of Winnipeg Co-op Program to fellow students through various channels, including social media, student organizations, and campus events.
    • Assist with the development and dissemination of promotional materials, such as brochures, posters, and digital content.
    • Participate in information sessions, orientation events, and recruitment fairs to share personal experiences and answer questions about the Co-op program.
  2. Student Engagement:
    • Serve as a point of contact for students interested in joining the Co-op program, offering guidance, advice, and insights based on personal experiences.
    • Organize and facilitate student-led workshops, panels, or networking events focused on Co-op opportunities, professional development, and career readiness.
    • Collaborate with Co-op Coordinator to identify and address student needs and concerns related to the program.
  3. Employer Relations:
    • Assist in cultivating relationships with employers, industry partners, and alumni to enhance Co-op placement opportunities for students.
    • Represent the Co-op program at employer engagement events, networking receptions, and industry conferences to promote collaboration and recruitment efforts.
    • Collect feedback from employers and students to continuously improve the quality and relevance of Co-op placements and programming.
  4. Content Creation:
    • Generate engaging and informative content, such as blog posts, testimonials, and videos, highlighting the experiences and achievements of Co-op students.
    • Contribute to the development of multimedia resources, including virtual tours, webinars, and podcasts, to showcase the benefits and impact of the co-op program.
  5. Professional Development:
    • Participate in training sessions, workshops, and seminars to enhance leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Take advantage of networking opportunities with industry professionals, alumni mentors, and career advisors to broaden professional connections and perspectives.

Eligibility
  • Completion of at least one year of the UWinnipeg Co-op program.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for experiential learning, career development, and community engagement.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Prior experience in leadership, volunteerism, or related extracurricular activities is an asset.
