About:
Dr. Christopher Storie is an associate professor in the Department of Geography at 海角社区. His area of specialization is in the use of GIS and remote sensing technologies to study how our urban environments are organized, how they change over time, and what impacts those changes have on both people and the landscape.
His research also involves the use of advanced geographic information systems (ArcGIS) integrated with satellite imaging software (ENVI, Idrisi, and PolSAR Pro) to analyze and fuse various geospatial datasets in order to derive land use/land use cover maps of urban environments. More recently he has begun to examine the role the deep neural networks can play in the area of land use and land cover mapping.
Working in collaboration with Dr. Christopher Henry (UWinnipeg Applied Computer Science), Dr. Storie has overseen the preparation and development of raw satellite and its related classified products that will be used to train the deep learning neural networks. The results of this collaboration is aimed at developing specialized DLNN for satellite image segmentation.
